Peripheral Nerve Pain:
Steps Toward a Solution

The Nalu Neurostimulation System may offer a long-term solution for patients with chronic pain caused by neuropathy.

Physicians recommending Nalu’s peripheral nerve stimulation take patients through a series of steps to ensure they find effective relief from the easy-to-use system.

Step 1: Consult

The patient and their physician discuss the IPG, how it works and how it may help. If both agree that it’s a promising prospect, a trial is arranged.

Step 2: Trial

Patients undergo a small surgical procedure to, without any incision, place thin wires near the nerves causing the pain and connect them to an external stimulator. During the trial period, the patient’s physician will evaluate the level of pain relief and determine if peripheral nerve stimulation is an appropriate long-term treatment.

Step 3: Wear Experience

Patients are given the option of a “wear trial,” to identify a comfortable location to implant the dime-sized micro IPG. Patients wear an adhesive clip and non-functioning therapy disc in various positions for up to two weeks to identify the best location for their anatomy and lifestyle.

Step 4: Permanent Implant

If successful, the patient will undergo a minimally invasive procedure to place permanent leads and the IPG in the best location. The physician’s individually prescribed therapy will be programmed into the Nalu system, and the patient can control the nerve stimulator through a remote-control app on their smartphone.

Step 5: Life Resumes

Patients continue to work with their physician and the Nalu support team to optimize the stimulator and manage their chronic pain.
